While I would not consider myself a Charlotte native (very few actually are), I do consider this wonderful city home and am forever touting the many reasons why I love it so. I often say Charlotte feels like a “big town” instead of the city that it is. It is still small enough to feel familiar. I frequently run into people I know around town, the city is easily navigable and last but not least, we still have that good ol’ fashioned southern charm. In my (almost) five years here, I have experienced many a fabulous day and am here to impart my local wisdom on you. If you are lucky enough to get to visit the Queen City, I suggest you start by trying out some of these hot spots:
#1 Breweries for days.

Beer drinkers rejoice–Charlotte has over 24 (24!!!) breweries for you to visit and enjoy. Best part of the local brewery scene? It’s not weird at all to bring your dog and/or children. It’s a family affair here!
#2 Whitewater rafting anyone?
At the U.S. National Whitewater Center, there are activities for everyone. Depending on your adventure level, you can zip line, attack the ropes course, raft down the man-made rapids, hike or just sit there and enjoy the view. Great festivals, live music and delicious food make this place a Charlotte must-do.

#3 Play ball!
Football? We have the Panthers. Baseball? We have the Knights. Basketball? The Hornets. We have it all here, and depending on the time of year you visit, try and get to a game. Insider tip: the BB&T Ballpark, found uptown, has incredible city views.
#4 These boots were made for walkin’.

Festivals, food trucks and live music can oftentimes be found in the heart of the city. You’ll need amoment to rest after all your walking, so why not stop for a drink? For an Instagram-worthy rooftop picture, visit Fahrenheit, Merchant and Trade, or City Lights Rooftop.
#5 Fill ‘er up.
Charlotte’s restaurant scene is in it’s breakout year according to Food & Wine Magazine and we are finally beginning to see a real desire for our own foodie scene. Some stand out favorites include Kindred, Soul Gastrolounge and 5Church.
